Terre d'Hermes

Welcome back and thank you for taking the time from your day to read about this extremely interesting fragrance called Terre d'Hermes. A couple of interesting facts before I start breaking down the scent; When I first saw this it was around this time last year (December 2012), I had been doing a LOT of reading and research on an earthy/woodsy cologne and when I came across this one the notes and ingredients in it caught my attention. This is also the only bottle of cologne of which I have gone through the entirety of...and it was a blind buy! Meaning I had never even sampled it...quite the risk considering the price of it at the time.

To start off, if my memory serves me (I had to train my nose to smell all of this despite the seemingly short list), this cologne is said to carry specific notes of wood, vegetation and mineral. On my skin, this scent has all of this and it's potency is nothing short of incredible. Heat adds to the intensity as well but don't let that fool you, the heavy wood notes that project from my skin turn this into a winter scent that seems to be loved by everyone. It's heavy, warm, strong, mature and inviting. When I spray this on I get an extreme sense of rugged sophistication and a feeling of confidence knowing that I silently catch the eyes of those around me. I first discovered the strength of this cologne at work, which is where I received my first compliment outside of the family. I was sitting in the breakroom and one of my good friends came to the table, looked at me and said, "THAT is what I want to smell like!" You would have to know this man in order to understand how bizarre it was for him to say that. The heat produced from my body while working only adds to the projection and sillage of this powerful cologne, bringing in even more attention. It literally rises and falls with your body temperature.

I find that I get the most out of this cologne by applying it directly after a hot shower. I dry myself off, get some pants on and let the skin absorb the rest of the water the towel would not get and go for two sprays on the front of my neck (not chest)...and if it's a date-night I take two extra sprays in my palm and put it on the back of my neck. Those four sprays will stay with me for literally 12 hours easily and sometimes carry on 'till the next shower.

In closing, if you're looking for a daring/bold heavy scent then give Terre d'Hermes a try. I can't speak for what it will smell like on you because the possibilities in this bottle seem endless, I can only tell you that it will grab attention in one way or another. See you next time!

A Short Introduction.

Hello to whoever may be reading this! My name is Nicholas and over the past two years I've become quite the cologne and perfume enthusiast, hence the blog name. I'm a country guy with a taste for some of the more refined things in today's culture thanks to a city I once lived in when I was a bit younger.

My goal and hope with this blog is to bring to light some of the more complex men's fragrances I've come across and to explain their compositions descriptively without being too overbearing. I hope in the time to come I can gather an audience to help broaden not only other's perspectives on this wonderful world of scents but to provide insight on what wears well on who.

The first review is soon to come!
